Day 11: 1950's Housewife

Day 11: 1950's Housewife

Wear a dress or a skirt? Easy. Done. I love skirts. In fact, I wore ONLY skirts and dresses for the entirety of last summer. My jeans got ruined on our trip to England last April, and I HATE jeans shopping. Since I couldn't wear jeans to work, it just wasn't worth the hassle. Finally in October, after two days of shopping with a really honest friend, I finally had a pair that I liked. Yay, I had jeans again!

The next day I found out I was pregnant.

I feel like this dress has a 1950's housewife feel to it, and I love it! Those ladies sure knew how to dress. I was hoping the black belt would help make it a little more modern - what do you think?

Also, look! Belting! Color blocking! Belt-as-headband! Man, I'm learning so much from this challenge.

Day 11

Coral dress: Anthropologie
Mustard tank top: 2 Love
Mustard heels: Forever Young
Black belt: Thrifted
Mayflower earrings: Plimoth
Crane necklace: Provo Farmer's Market
Headband: From dress

  1. I love it! The belt head band is super fun! And as always, I love your zipper shoes :)

  2. I love these colors and your retro style today! The pop of yellow against the coral is really bright and cute!

I agree with you about learning so much from this challenge. I think we've all been stretched in a good way to rethink our clothing possibilities. It's sure been a fun and eye-opening experience for me.

  3. ADORABLE! That's all I have to say about that. :)

  4. Love love love the bright colors! Yellow is easily my favorite, and that shade of pink is stunning!
I also have jean shopping issues. :) Recently I went through all my pairs of jeans and I owned 9 pairs of the same exact jeans that I'd acquired over the years! (My parents always buy me jeans for my birthday because I never shop for them myself). It used to be much worse for me when the low-rise jeans were the trend. I hate low-rise!

  5. What a great dress! I never would have thought of pairing it with yellow--it looks so good!

  6. I love the bright colors. Very cute retro look. Perfect for vacuuming. :-)
